A quite high-end tech toy which can give tough time to all major tech giants of the world. Xiaomi’s flagship has tons of attractive features. It has a fifth generation optical under-display fingerprint scanner that performs 25% faster than its predecessor. The company has used Samsung’s AMOLED display on 90+% screen to body ratio. It features a new sunlight and reading mode for excellent viewing. There is a tray of three powerful camera sensors capable to shoot excellently.

It has one Sony’s 48MP sensor, a telephoto sensor to have portraits, and an ultra wide-angle lens for rich color shots. The front side of handset has a 20MP camera sensor to shoot widely. The phone has a 3300mAh battery and you can charge it fast and wirelessly. The TWRP recovery is already here users can use to tinkle with custom software updates. But keep in mind that the phone has received an unofficial version of recovery (TWRP 3.2.3), the official version of TWRP might take time in arrival.

Requirements

  • Have USB drivers installed on your computer.
  • Have ABD and fastboot drivers of phone installed on computer.
  • Have unlocked bootloader on your device. You can unlock Mi 9’s bootloader here.
  • This procedure may wipe everything stored on phone, so create a full backup. Take care of your valuable data including contacts, SMS, apps, and settings (Note: You can check this guide for help).
  • Go to Settings>About Phone, there start tapping on MIUI version until developer settings are enabled. Then, go to Settings>Additional Settings>Developer Settings, there check OEM unlocking and USB Debugging.

How To Install TWRP On Xiaomi Mi 9

Step One: Download the Xiaomi Mi 9 TWRP recovery img file from here (download latest file available).

Step Two: Rename the downloaded *.img file into recovery.img.

Step Three: Move the renamed file to ADB folder (this should be in C: drive of your computer).

Step Four: Turn your device off now.

Step Five: Boot phone into fastboot mode, to do this press and hold down the power and volume down buttons at the same time.

Step Six: Now plug the device with computer using a USB wire.

Step Seven: Open the search bar on your computer, search for cmd and run it as administrator.

Step Eight: Type the following command and press enter (this will take you to where you have ADB drivers, if drivers are at a different place, write your own file path in command):

cd C:\ADB

Step Nine: Type the following command and press enter to see if your device is connected properly:

fastboot devices

Step Ten: Type the following command and hit enter to start installation (Note: this will permanently replace your device’s default recovery file and void warranty of device):

fastboot flash recovery recovery.img

Tip: You can use following command to boot into TWRP without installing it on device:

fastboot boot recovery.img

Step Eleven: Now after installation of the recovery, simply reboot the device and you are good to go. Type following command to reboot:

fastboot reboot

Step Twelve: On the first reboot, iit will ask to allow modification for system partition, we recommend you to select “keep read only” as it will not bring any issue within your default ROM files.
